African Footballers Vie for Top Honors at 2025 CAF Awards
LAGOS, NIGERIA – The Confederation of african Football (CAF) today unveiled the nominees for its annual awards, recognizing excellence across seven categories in women’s football. The announcement sets the stage for a prestigious ceremony where the continent’s brightest stars will be celebrated.
The nominations highlight a wealth of talent and achievement within African football, signaling the growing strength and competitiveness of the sport across the continent. Winners will be resolute by a combined vote from the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, and the public. The awards ceremony promises to be a landmark event,showcasing the dedication and skill of African footballers and coaches.
Women’s Player of the Year contenders include Rasheedat Ajabade (Paris St-Germain & Nigeria),Barbra Banda (Orlando Pride & Zambia),Portia Boakye (Hapoel Petah Tikva & Ghana),Tabitha Chawinga (Liony & Malawi),Temwa Chawinga (Kansas City & Malawi),Fatou Kanteh (Strasbourg & Senegal),Rachael Kundananji (Bay FC & Zambia),Sanaa Mssoudy (AS FAR & morocco),and Esther Okoronkwo (AFC Toronto & Nigeria).
The race for Women’s Goalkeeper of the year features sedilame Boseja (Mamelodi Sundowns & Botswana), Andile Dlamini (Mamelodi Sundowns & South Africa), habiba Emad (FC Masr & Egypt), Khadija Ermimimiah (AS FAR & Morocco), Fatoumata Kaaranto (Musfas Bamako & Mali), Cynthia Konlan (Swieqi United & Ghana), Adji Ndiaye (AS Bambey & Senegal), Fideline Ndooy (TP Mazembe & DR Congo), Chloe N’gazi (Marseille & Algeria), and Chiamaka Nnadozie (Brighton & Hove Albion & Nigeria).
Nominated for Women’s Coach of the Year are Genoveva Anonman (15 de Agosto), Kim Bjorkegren (Ghana), Lamia Boumehdi (TP Mazembe), desiree Ellis (South Africa), Carol Kanyemba (Zambia U17), Adelaide Koudougnon (Ivory Coast U17), Justin Madugu (Nigeria), Bankole Olowookere (Nigeria U17), Siaka Gigi Traore (ASEC Mimosas), and Jorge Vilda (Morocco).
