Widzew Łódź Seals Record Transfer of Andi zeqiri on deadline Day
Widzew Łódź capped off a busy summer transfer window with a significant coup, securing the signing of Swiss international striker Andi Zeqiri from KRC Genk on a definitive transfer. The deal, finalized in the final hours of the window, represents a club-record fee of approximately €2 million, making Zeqiri one of the highest-paid players in the Polish Premier League.
The arrival of Zeqiri follows a period of ample investment by Widzew majority shareholder Robert Dobrzycki, who delivered on promises to bolster the squad with new talent. Mariusz Fornalczyk, Samuel Akere, ricardo Visus, and Stelios andreou are among the other new additions to the Łódź club.
Zeqiri, a 16-time Switzerland international, brings a wealth of experience from leagues including the Bundesliga, Swiss Super League, and Belgian Pro League, as well as appearances in the UEFA Conference League.Last season with Genk, he scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in 28 matches.

Widzew’s Sports Director, Mindaugas Nikolicius, emphasized the importance of the signing. “The expectation paid off. I am extremely happy that our owner personally participated in the final negotiations. This signing allows us to finish the first of three stages of our planning and begin building a new Widzew.”
Nikolicius further highlighted Zeqiri’s playing attributes, noting his “high level of situational intelligence, one-on-one ability, tactical discipline, and control of the game, which allow him to make accurate decisions and create space for both himself and his teammates.”
