MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – June 21, 2025 – Google is rolling out a significant visual refresh for its video conferencing platform, Google Meet, adopting the company’s latest Material 3 design language. The update, dubbed ”Expressive,” introduces a more modern and vibrant aesthetic, aiming to enhance the user experience across various devices.
The redesign incorporates rounded corners, updated color palettes, and new typography consistent with other Google applications already utilizing Material 3. Users will notice a shift towards more expressive and dynamic elements within the Meet interface. Key changes include redesigned meeting bubbles, updated controls, and a generally cleaner layout.
Google states the update is intended to make the platform feel more intuitive and visually appealing. The new design emphasizes clarity and ease of use, especially during longer video calls. The changes are being implemented server-side, meaning users do not need to manually update the application to receive the new look.
The rollout of the Material 3 “Expressive” design for Google Meet began on June 21, 2025, and is expected to reach all users over the coming weeks. The update applies to the web version of Meet, and also the Android and iOS mobile applications.
