Münster Foal Auction Sees Record Prices as Top Prospects fetch Over €20,000
Münster, germany – Teh prestigious Westphalia Week in Münster-Handorf witnessed a stunning showcase of equestrian talent this week, with one of Germany’s largest foal auctions drawing significant international interest. The event, featuring approximately 170 young horses over two days, kicked off with a highly successful auction of around 60 jumping-bred foals, achieving an impressive average price of €10,056 and a sell-through rate of 95 percent.
The evening’s star attraction was lot number 124, ermitano, a colt by the European team champion Ermitage Kalone. This promising young stallion commanded a top price of €22,000, purchased by a group of nine owners. ermitano’s pedigree boasts exceptional lineage, with his sire, Ermitage Kalone, recently contributing to Belgium’s team gold and individual bronze medals at the European Championships. His dam, Litessa, is a proven performer in 1.40m jumping classes, and his granddam, Callaho’s Chabils, competed successfully at the international 1.60m level.Equally sought-after was lot number 115, United’s Kiss, a filly that secured the highest price for a filly at €21,000. Bred by Franz Herking, this filly’s pedigree is equally impressive, featuring sire United Touch S, a recent European champion with Richard Vogel, and dam sire Montender, a former European champion under Marco Kutscher. The filly’s dam, St.Pr.St. Midsummer Kiss, demonstrated her own jumping prowess by competing in 1.50m classes with Kendra-Claricia Brinkop. This powerful filly was acquired online by buyers from Switzerland.
The strong demand for these high-caliber young horses resulted in a total turnover of €543,000 for the first evening’s auction. A significant 24 of the sold foals achieved prices of €10,000 or more, underscoring the quality and international appeal of the Westphalian talent on offer. Buyers from both domestic and international markets actively participated, with two of the evening’s sales destined for locations outside of Germany.
