Volkswagen intends to rapidly expand its electric vehicle lineup, notably in the affordable segment, with plans to launch the ID.Every1 and ID.Cross by 2025, and potentially an electric compact SUV akin to the Tiguan by 2026. The automaker announced the strategy alongside the unveiling of the ID.Every1 concept at E-Salon 2025.
Volkswagen’s renewed push comes as the company seeks to regain its position as a producer of “people’s cars” and address technological shortcomings relative to competitors like Tesla and, now, Rivian-with whom Volkswagen is collaborating. The ID.Every1, measuring 3,880 mm in length, will accommodate four passengers and offer 305 liters of cargo space, powered by a 70 kW electric motor and built on the new MEB Plus platform with front-wheel drive. Chief Designer Andreas Mindt also hinted at a larger sibling to the ID.Cross, speculated to be an ID.Tiguan, arriving in 2026.
