Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile will cease operations on April 17, 2026, Activision announced Monday. The move follows the game’s removal from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in May 2025, a decision prompted by the game failing to attract and retain a substantial mobile-first player base.
The company stated that while Warzone Mobile successfully integrated with the existing Call of Duty ecosystem for PC and console players, it “did not meet our expectations with mobile-first players,” according to a post on X, as reported by The Verge. Players who downloaded the game before May 19, 2025, were granted continued access, with cross-progression features maintained for a time, but Activision ceased delivering new seasonal content, gameplay updates, and in-game purchases with real currency following its removal from app stores.
Activision’s decision to sunset Warzone Mobile comes after just over a year since its global launch on March 21, 2024. The game offered battle royale gameplay for up to 120 players and shared progression with the console and PC versions of Call of Duty: Warzone. Despite a positive review from IGN, which awarded the game an 8/10 and praised its authentic adaptation of the Warzone experience to mobile, the game struggled to gain traction in the competitive mobile shooter market.
The closure is part of a broader streamlining of Activision’s mobile strategy, with the company reaffirming its commitment to Call of Duty: Mobile, developed by TiMi Studio Group. Call of Duty: Mobile has surpassed one billion downloads since its launch, and Activision intends to focus on delivering seasonal content and updates to that title. Revenue from Call of Duty: Mobile is shared between Activision and Tencent.
According to Activision support documentation released February 16, 2026, guest accounts used to play Warzone Mobile will no longer be accessible after the servers are shut down on April 17, 2026. The company expressed gratitude to the community and developers involved in the project, stating that player feedback will continue to inform the future of the Call of Duty franchise.
