Apple today released visionOS 26.3.1, a minor software update for Apple Vision Pro. The release, arriving two weeks after visionOS 26.3, focuses on system refinements and stability improvements for users of the spatial computer.

The update process has been streamlined, according to Apple. Users can initiate the download through the Settings app, navigating to General and then Software Update. Notably, the headset must be removed during installation, with the progress bar displayed on the external EyeSight cover, allowing users to monitor the update without wearing the device.

A key component of visionOS 26.3.1 addresses a display issue affecting Apple TV app users. Apple confirmed the update resolves a flickering problem experienced by some users whereas utilizing the MultiView feature during live sports broadcasts. This issue had been reported when viewing multi-angle feeds of sporting events, disrupting the viewing experience.

The update arrives as Apple continues to expand the capabilities of visionOS. VisionOS 26, released in October 2025, introduced the M5 chip to the Vision Pro, boosting performance, display rendering, and battery life. The update also included the Dual Knit Band for improved comfort and fresh features like widgets, enhanced Personas, and an interactive Jupiter Environment. According to Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Bob Borchers, the M5 chip delivers “faster performance, sharper details throughout the system, and even more battery life, setting a new standard for what’s possible in spatial computing.”

Apple has also focused on expanding the immersive environments available within visionOS 26. Recent work by Apple’s design team, in collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), resulted in a detailed recreation of the surface of Jupiter’s moon, Amalthea. Designers utilized data from JPL to accurately theorize the composition of the moon, which is believed to be comprised of rocks and ice held together by Jupiter’s gravity. The environment is designed to evoke a sense of wonder, according to Yuri Imoto from visionOS Product Marketing and Matt Dessero, a Human Interface Designer at Apple.

visionOS 26 also broadened support for spatial video formats, now accommodating 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide field-of-view videos and photos captured with devices from Insta360, GoPro, and Canon. The operating system also allows users to group apps into folders within the Home View and offers improved accessibility features, including enhanced typing experiences and the ability to unlock an iPhone simply by glancing at it while wearing the Vision Pro.
