Venice Film Festival Unveils Cutting-Edge VR Interactive Lineup for 2025

Festival Announces Immersive Film and Experience Selections

The festival has unveiled its lineup for immersive film and experiences,featuring a diverse range of projects from leading creators and studios. Among the highlighted works are Edward berger’s “Submerged” and Charlotte Mikkelborg’s “Adventure: Ice Dive,” both presented by Apple.”submerged” is a 17-minute immersive film, while “Adventure: Ice Dive” is a 15-minute immersive film co-produced with Atlantic Studios, filmed in the USA and Iceland.

OUT OF COMPETITION

Best of Experiences
The “Best of Experiences” category showcases a broad spectrum of interactive and immersive storytelling. This includes Ives Agemans’ 30-minute mixed reality piece “Wall Town Wonders,” and Balthazar Auxietre’s 90-minute virtual reality narrative “One True path, Part 1.” apple’s “Submerged” is also featured in this section, alongside Fireproof Games’ extensive 300-minute virtual reality experience “ghost Town.” Continuing the immersive theme, “Adventure: ice Dive” by Apple and Atlantic Studios is presented, as is Steye Hallema’s 70-minute immersive installation “Ancestors.” Navid Khonsari and Vassiliki Khonsari’s 30-minute immersive installation “Lili” and Wayne McGregor’s 50-minute immersive installation and mixed reality work “On the Other Earth” are also recognized. The selection further includes Olov Redmalm and Klaus Lyngeled’s 360-minute virtual reality project “The Midnight Walk,” spanning sweden, Brazil, and India. Chloé Rochereuil’s 22-minute virtual reality film “D‑Day: The Camera Soldier” (France, USA) and Sister Sylvester and nadah El Shazly’s 55-minute immersive installation “Constantinopoliad” (UK, Greece) round out this category.

Best of Worlds
The “Best of Worlds” category celebrates innovative virtual environments and artistic expressions. Featured works include “Natura’s Queendom” by anders Fray and Starheart, “Cyberlove | A7” by Artsy glitch, and “Uncanny Lounge” by christopher Lane Davis and Rick Treweek.DrMorro’s “Ritual,” Glory Nya’s “The Colony – Flat 804,” and haruki_haru’s “Exhibition ⁄ Back Seeing” are also part of this selection. The category includes Jessien’s “What Is Virtual Art – Volume 1,” Joe Hunting’s “The Reality of Hope,” and Juice…’s “Neuron.” Further entries are “Yorutouge” by mikkabouzu / Kikuo, “Flat Earth” by Niko Lang, and “experience” by NOOTAU. Pema Malling’s “Powdergame,” phi16’s “Light Aquarium,” and PK / rekluma’s “Break 15˸ Arcanum” are also recognized. The list continues with “Vent.” by Premium, “FZMZ Point Zero” by ReeeznD, “Scale Journey” by S_Asagiri, and “Shinonome Balloon” by sakanaplus. Tanner White’s “Dracula’s Castle,” Tokyo Waiyoz’s “Mirage,” Widget365’s “Neoworlds,” and xlxxl’s “Flashing Warning” complete the “Best of Worlds” selections.
