Utah Valley Wrestling: Ed Scott Named Assistant Coach

DuBois Native Ed Scott Joins Utah Valley University Wrestling Coaching Staff

Utah Valley University (UVU) has announced the hiring of DuBois,Pennsylvania native Ed Scott as an assistant coach for their wrestling program. The announcement was made by UVU Head Coach Adam Hall via exploreJeffersonPA.com.

Scott recently concluded his collegiate wrestling career at North Carolina State University in the 2025 season. Hall expressed excitement about the addition,stating,”We’re excited to announce Ed Scott as our new assistant coach…He brings a wealth of wrestling knowledge to Utah Valley,having recently moved from Raleigh. Timmy (McCall) and I had the privilege of coaching ed for several years, and it’s an honor to now mentor him in this new role.”

A decorated wrestler himself, Scott was a 2023 All-American for the Wolfpack and a four-time NCAA Championships qualifier. During his time at NC State, he earned two ACC Championships, was twice named an NWCA Scholar All-American, and received two ACC All-Academic selections. He amassed 91 wins throughout his college career. Prior to his collegiate success, scott achieved international recognition, winning gold at the 2021 Junior Pan Am Championships at 70kg and being named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler.

Hall highlighted Scott’s continued competitive drive, noting, “as an NCAA all-American and a recent Senior US Open place winner and Senior World Team Trials qualifier, Ed will immediately elevate the existing talent in our wrestling room…We’re thrilled for him to continue pursuing his own competitive goals while helping our athletes reach theirs.” Hall also welcomed Scott’s wife, Katlyn, to the UVU family.

Scott expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “I’m so grateful for this opportunity that Adam, Timmy, Andrew, and UVU wrestling have given me…It’s super exciting to be working with Adam and Timmy after thay played such an impactful role in my career. I’m looking forward to learning from them and helping to elevate UVU wrestling to the next level.”

Before attending North Carolina State, Scott established himself as a dominant force at DuBois Area High School. He holds the program record with 151 wins in 157 matches, including a District 9 record of 105 pins. Scott won his final 79 high school matches and was a three-time Pennsylvania state medalist, achieving a third-place finish as a freshman and winning state titles in 2019 and 2020.

His high school accolades also include four D9 titles, four regional titles, a 2020 Wrestling USA Scholastic All-American selection, the 2020 Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award, and an Amateur Wrestling News’ High School All-American Second-Team selection. He was a two-time Powerade champion, a Journeymen Fall Classic champion, a Fargo Greco runner-up, and placed fourth at Super 32. Nationally, scott was ranked No. 19 overall and No. 2 at 152 pounds by FloWrestling, No. 29 overall and No. 2 at 152 pounds by TheOpenMat, and No. 39 overall and No. 3 at 152 pounds by InterMat.

Scott graduated from North Carolina State University in 2025 with a degree in business administration, emphasizing marketing. He and Katlyn were married in the summer of 2025.
