USA Women’s Sevens Eagles prepare for Australian Campaign with Squad Proclamation
GOLD COAST, AUSTRALIA - The USA Women’s sevens Eagles have announced their traveling squad and support staff as they gear up for a crucial series of matches in Australia, kicking off their 2024 season. the team will compete in both the Sydney and Hamilton stops of the HSBC SVNS series, seeking to build momentum and secure valuable points in the race for Olympic qualification.
This tour marks a pivotal moment for the Eagles,as they navigate a competitive landscape with the Paris 2024 Olympics on the horizon. The HSBC SVNS series serves as a primary pathway to the Games, and strong performances in Australia are essential for the team’s qualification hopes. Head Coach Emilie Bydwell has selected a squad blending experienced veterans with emerging talent,aiming for a balance of physicality and tactical flexibility.
The traveling roster includes key players like Alev Kelter (7 points), Lauren Doyle (7 points), and Sariah Ibarra (7 points). Also selected are Nalu Liufau, Tessa Hann, karina Gauto, and Fane Tausinga, alongside Sereana Vulaono. The team’s preparation is underpinned by a complete support staff, including Head of Athletic Performance Trey Ford, performance Analyst Lauren Barber, and Head of Athlete Health & Wellness Nicole Titmas. Rounding out the team’s resources are rehab Specialist Meghan Chambers, Sport Psychologist Peter Haberl, and High Performance Operations lead Maria Adams.
The Eagles will face tough competition from established sevens powerhouses,but Bydwell expressed confidence in her team’s ability to rise to the challenge. The Sydney event is scheduled to begin on February 2-4, followed by the hamilton leg from February 9-11.
