A popular US TikTok star joined hundreds of fans queuing for hours at a Welsh bakery, declaring their doughnuts “the best I ever had anywhere.” Kalani, known for his food reviews and travel content, visited Mônut in Llanrwst, Conwy County, after the bakery gained international attention for its unique flavors and high-quality ingredients.
Mônut, founded by Richard Hughes, has rapidly become a viral sensation, drawing customers from across the UK and beyond. The bakery’s success highlights the power of social media in driving tourism and supporting small businesses, especially in rural areas. Kalani’s endorsement is expected too further amplify Mônut’s reach and solidify its reputation as a must-visit destination for food lovers.
Kalani arrived unexpectedly and narrowly missed Richard Hughes, the bakery’s owner. Despite arriving “a bit damp and dishevelled,” he purchased a box of six doughnuts, including the Manchester Tart, Raspberry Jam, Tiramisu, Banoffee, Blueberry Bombshell, and Caramel and Custard flavors.
“These are supposed to be some life-changing doughnuts and I’m here getting wet and wild just to try these puppies out,” Kalani said while beginning to eat. “These doughnuts we can see right here look amazing. My mouth is watering.”
