US Open: Broadcasters Asked to Avoid Showing Negative Reactions to Trump

US Open ‌Asks broadcasters to Avoid Showing Audience Reaction to ⁢Trump‘s Expected Visit

NEW YORK The US Open has requested that broadcasters refrain from showing any instances of booing directed‌ at former President Donald Trump should he ⁣attend Sunday’s men’s final between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner. The request, made ‍to⁤ television partners, ‌aims‍ to maintain a focus on the competition and avoid amplifying potential political demonstrations during the high-profile ‍event.

The move comes as trump has indicated plans to attend the final, sparking debate and raising concerns about potential disruptions. The US Open seeks to ensure the broadcast prioritizes the athletic achievement of Alcaraz and Sinner, who are set to meet in a Grand Slam final for the third consecutive⁢ time, following their battles at the French Open and Wimbledon this summer. This is ⁣the first time in the Open era ‍two‍ players ⁤have contested three major finals in the same year.

Alcaraz‌ acknowledged the potential for distraction but stated his focus remains on the match. “I don’t want myself ‍to be⁢ nervous as‍ of it,but I think attending the tennis match,it’s great for tennis ⁣to have‍ the president at the final. But on Sunday, my⁢ job is to‌ play my best tennis and not ‌let ⁤anything else get in the way,” he said.

Sinner, the defending US Open champion, has won 27 consecutive matches at hard-court Grand‌ Slams. He previously defeated alcaraz in four sets ⁢at Wimbledon to claim his fourth Grand Slam title. Alcaraz is seeking revenge and a second US Open title, having previously overcome Sinner in a five-set French Open final – a⁢ victory that would also restore his World‍ No. 1 ranking.

Alcaraz advanced to the final ⁤after defeating Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals on Friday, while Sinner secured his⁤ spot by beating Felix Auger-Aliassime. Sinner has the chance to become the first man since Roger Federer (2004-2008) to defend the US Open title.
