Unitree Robotics shows H2-X robot performing kung fu and security tasks
By Alex Carter
Chinese robotics company Unitree Robotics released a demonstration video of its humanoid robot, the H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian, leaping onto the roof of a car, executing a backflip, and striking the vehicle’s bodywork with its fists and feet.
Acrobatic Assault on Sheet Metal
Despite the aggressive maneuvers against the vehicle, the company clarified that the robot has not gone rogue. The display is strictly a demonstration of its physical capabilities.
H2-X Assists in Security and Emergency Operations
Designed for security and emergency assistance operations, the H2-X features capabilities extending far beyond martial arts demonstrations.
The promotional video depicts the humanoid machine confronting an armed attacker. It also shows the robot lifting the front end of a wrecked vehicle to aid a trapped person.
High-Output Movements Drain Battery Power Quickly
Unitree Robotics states that the machine can operate for up to eight hours in a standing position on a single charge.
That battery duration, however, does not apply to continuous high-output movements. Executing kung-fu strikes or acrobatic routines drains power far more quickly.
Missing Commercial and Autonomy Data
Key operational details regarding the H2-X remain unconfirmed. The company has not yet announced a commercial release date or retail pricing for the robot.
Independent verification of the machine's autonomy during emergency scenarios—such as vehicle extrication or confrontations with armed individuals—has not been established outside of the controlled promotional footage.
