UN Commission Accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza

Geneva – A united Nations Human Rights Office commission investigating the conflict in Gaza has concluded there is evidence suggesting acts of genocide committed by Israel, according too a report released today. The findings allege systematic actions taken during the military offensive indicate intent to destroy a substantial portion of the palestinian population.

The report arrives amid escalating international pressure on Israel as its military operation in Rafah continues, raising fears of widespread civilian casualties. The commission’s assessment, based on evidence gathered over several months, focuses on actions taken sence the october 7th Hamas attacks and the subsequent Israeli response. The allegations carry critically important weight, potentially triggering further investigations by the International Criminal Court and intensifying diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire.

Shortly before the report’s release, US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio expressed skepticism about a diplomatic resolution to the Gaza war, stating, “So if it does not end in this way, it has to be ended by military use,” in an interview with Fox News. Rubio arrived in Israel over the weekend.

Meanwhile, relatives of Israeli hostages held by Hamas protested outside Prime Minister Netanyahu’s residence in Jerusalem after the commencement of the Rafah offensive. Police blocked a street as the forum of relatives voiced grave concerns for the hostages’ lives, issuing a statement that this “could be the last night for the hostages tonight.”

The forum accused Netanyahu of deliberately choosing to “sacrifice them from political considerations,” claiming he disregards assessments from the chief of staff and security authorities. Palestinian sources reported to Israeli media that Hamas has moved hostages from underground tunnels into homes and tents within Rafah to impede Israeli military operations in specific areas.
