Ukraine War: Drone Disruptions Hit European airports, Russia Claims Intercepted Drones
Munich adn Monaco airports experienced flight disruptions early October 4, 2025, due to reported drone sightings, prompting delays and temporary closures. Munich Airport announced delays to flight operations, advising passengers to check wiht their airlines before traveling. Monaco Airport stated flight operations woudl “gradually resume from 7,” also urging passengers to verify flight status with their carriers. Both incidents involved alarms triggered by suspected drone activity.
These disruptions follow a pattern of increased vigilance regarding drone security at European airports. The incidents occurred as Russia reported intercepting and destroying 117 ukrainian drones overnight. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, as reported by Tass, the drones were intercepted across multiple regions including Bryansk (27 drones), Volgograd (16), Kursk (15), Crimea (15), Rostov (11), Voronezh (10), Belgorod (8), Leningrad (6), Kaluga (4), Novgorod (2), the Black Sea (2), and Smolensk (1).
