Ukrainian Arms Firm to Establish Fuel Production in Denmark, Marking First Overseas Manufacturing
SKYDSTRUP, Denmark – In a landmark move, Ukrainian weapons manufacturer Fire Point will begin producing fuel components in Denmark, marking the first time a Ukrainian arms producer has established manufacturing operations abroad. the initiative, announced today, is a direct response to Ukraine’s ongoing defense needs and builds on discussions between Ukrainian President Zelensky and several European nations – including Norway, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom – regarding joint arms production.
The partnership will utilize an area near the Skydstrup Air Force Base, home to Danish F-16 fighter jets, designated by Danish Minister of Defense poulsen. “It is support for Ukraine in their struggle for security, independence and, not least, their chance to live in peace,” Poulsen stated.
This development comes as ukraine deploys the “Flamingo” missile,a medium-range weapon developed by Fire Point with a reported range of 3,000 kilometers, for the first time. However, Fire Point is currently under investigation by Ukraine’s anti-corruption agency regarding potential discrepancies in pricing, delivery agreements, and alleged financial benefits to individuals connected to President Zelensky’s former film studio, according to The Kyiv Independent.
Denmark has provided over 9 billion euros in military support to ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion in 2022, according to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The move has drawn sharp criticism from Russia. Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin stated via Facebook that Denmark is “steadfast to continue the bloodshed in Ukraine” and warned that it would become “increasingly tough not to regard Denmark as a direct participant in the conflict.”
