British counter-terrorism police arrested a 22-year-old British man in central London on October 6, on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts in connection with an investigation launched near Royal Air Force Fairford, reported.
The Investigation at Royal Air Force Fairford
The arrest marks the seventh detention in an ongoing investigation that began on September 27, when officers discovered a suspicious vehicle near the military installation in Gloucestershire. The suspect was taken into custody in the Westminster area of London. No charges have been filed against any of the seven individuals detained so far.
Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing Vicky Evans stated that the investigation remains active and that police continue to pursue multiple lines of inquiry. Five earlier suspects were initially arrested on explosives-related offenses before facing additional questioning for suspected preparation of terrorist acts. Those five were subsequently released on bail under what police described as an experienced and strategic investigative decision.
