Malang, East java - Brawijaya University (UB) Rector Prof. Widodo is responding to calls from former UIN Malang lecturer Imam Muslimin to expel doctoral student Nurul Sahara, also known as Sahara_vibessss on tiktok.Muslimin alleges Sahara’s online activity led to his dismissal from UIN Malang and is demanding UB take disciplinary action.
Muslimin publicly appealed to Prof. Widodo via Instagram, stating Sahara’s TikTok account contributed to his termination and subsequent investigation by the Ministry of Religion’s Inspector General. He requested UB cease Sahara’s enrollment in the Administrative Sciences S-3 program, seeking “justice” and accountability from the university. “I ask Prof. Widodo’s justice, so that this father can be fostered by UB. You are responsible,” Muslimin stated in the post, viewed by Detikjatim on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
According to the higher Education Database (PDPT), Sahara is currently registered as a doctoral candidate in Administrative Sciences at Brawijaya University. The situation highlights a growing tension between academic freedom, online expression, and potential repercussions for individuals impacted by social media content. UB has not yet issued a formal response regarding Muslimin’s demands, leaving the future of Sahara’s studies and the broader implications of the case uncertain.
