Lens Duo Propel France into U20 World Cup Round of 16
SANTIAGO,Chile – RC Lens players Anthony Bermont and Fodé Sylla have secured their places in the Round of 16 of the FIFA U20 World Cup with the French national team,continuing their tournament run in Chile. France advanced as one of the best third-placed teams after a decisive 6-0 victory over new Caledonia.
The French sideS path to the knockout stage was solidified by results across all groups, following a 2-1 win against South Africa and a 3-0 loss to the United States. Both Bermont, starting as a left-back, and Sylla, in midfield, played the full 90 minutes against New Caledonia, contributing to a dominant performance fueled by goals from Andrea Le Borgne (11′, 82′, 93′), Lucas Michal (55′, 84′), and Gabin Bernardeau (91′).
France will now face Japan in the Round of 16, with the match scheduled for overnight from Wednesday to Thursday at 1 a.m. local time.
