Tyler Reddick Wins Freeway Insurance 500 at Phoenix Raceway
Tyler Reddick secured his NASCAR Cup Series-leading sixth win of the season on October 18, 2026, by executing a two-tire strategy and a four-wide restart maneuver at Phoenix Raceway in Avondale, Arizona, the Miami Herald reported. Reddick passed Chase Briscoe with 18 laps remaining in the Freeway Insurance 500, ultimately beating polesitter Ryan Blaney by 0.801 seconds to claim his first victory at the 1-mile oval and the 14th of his career. Ryan Blaney led the first 45 laps of the race. This group never lost its motivation or its drive. I had a really good feeling today.
Strategic Pit Decisions Shape the Arizona Desert Race
The 33rd race of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season featured six cautions and a sequence of fluctuating pit strategies. An incident involving Riley Herbst and Michael McDowell brought out a caution on lap 44, prompting Denny Hamlin to take two tires and vault to the lead, while Blaney took four tires. Kyle Larson also capitalized on a two-tire stop during that cycle, jumping from 18th to 5th. Joey Logano took the lead from Hamlin and won Stage 1, while Hamlin finished second, followed by Christopher Bell, Blaney, and Chase Briscoe.
On Lap 157, caution came out for Austin Dillon, with Bell entering pit road with the lead before Joey Logano left pit road as the new leader. Logano won the race off pit road and maintained a solid lead over Briscoe en route to a sweep of the first two stages. Bell, Josh Berry and Bubba Wallace followed in stage points.

He was then caught speeding.

Not a good one,
Larson said of his showing in the six-caution race. I was just trying to salvage anything. A top-20 would’ve been great. I just blew a right front. A lot of people were.
In the standings, Larson leads Bell by six points. Briscoe sits 24 points back, Hamlin trails by 31, and Blaney rounds out the top five, sitting 40 points behind the leader.
