Phoenix Freeway Closures Could Cause Weekend Delays, AZ Family Reports
Weekend Freeway Closures and Construction Across Phoenix
Drivers in the Phoenix area will face significant delays this weekend as the Arizona Department of Transportation conducts a series of scheduled improvement projects across multiple major regional corridors from October 9 through October 12, AZ Family reported.
Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway Widening Restrictions
Eastbound Loop 101 will shut down completely between 75th and 51st avenues starting at 10 p.m. Friday, remaining closed until 5 a.m. Monday for an ongoing widening project. Crews will also close the eastbound on-ramps at Bell Road and Union Hills Drive, alongside the Texas U-turn ramp near Union Hills Drive. Motorists must drive around the closure by using Union Hills Drive to reconnect with Loop 101 at either 51st or 35th avenues.
Loop 202 Santan Freeway Paving and Ramps
Eastbound Loop 202 faces a closure between Arizona Avenue and Gilbert Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday to accommodate a separate widening initiative. Authorities will shut down on-ramps at Price, Dobson, and Alma School roads. The ramp connecting southbound Loop 101 to the eastbound Loop 202 HOV lane will also be unavailable. Drivers can bypass this stretch by using Chandler Boulevard or Germann Road to rejoin Loop 202.

State Route 51 Pavement Improvements
Crews will close northbound State Route 51 between Indian School Road and Glendale Avenue beginning at 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday for pavement maintenance. Northbound on-ramps at McDowell and Thomas roads will also shutter for the duration of the work.
State Route 347 Day Lane Reductions
State Route 347 will narrow down to a single lane in both directions between the city of Maricopa and Casa Blanca Road. This restriction takes effect during two distinct windows: from 8 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, and again from 8 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday, specifically designated for paving operations.
