In Hamamatsu, Japan, a shocking incident at a local bar has resulted in the deaths of two women. Police have apprehended a suspect, and an investigation into the motive is underway.
Details of the Stabbing
Early on July 6th, police responded to an emergency call from a bar in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka prefecture. The call reported that two women had been stabbed. Upon arrival, officers arrested **Ichiro Yamashita**, 41, who is currently unemployed. He was found at the scene.
The victims have been identified as **Tomoka Takeuchi**, 27, the bar’s manager, and **Rin Ito**, 26, an employee. Both women were rushed to a hospital but succumbed to their injuries. First responders reported that both victims were unconscious and in critical condition when they were transported.
**Yamashita** allegedly stabbed **Ms. Takeuchi** in the back. According to police, **Yamashita** stated, “It is correct that I stabbed her.”
Further investigation revealed that **Yamashita** entered the bar with **Ms. Ito**, then attacked **Ms. Takeuchi**, stabbing her twice in the back before turning on **Ms. Ito**, stabbing her multiple times.
The suspect was carrying two knives, each with a 20cm blade. He reportedly did not attempt to flee or resist arrest when law enforcement arrived. Other customers and employees were present during the attack.
Suspect and Investigation
Authorities are investigating the relationship between **Yamashita** and the victims, as well as his motive for the attack. He is believed to be a regular at the establishment, described as a “girls bar” where female employees serve drinks.
The incident occurred in a downtown area approximately 500 meters west of JR Hamamatsu Station. Japan has a relatively low rate of violent crime, but rates have increased slightly in recent years (Statista 2023).
