Tucson Pedestrian Killed: Driver Not Impaired – August 2025

Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle in tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – A 34-year-old man died Saturday night after being​ hit by a car in Tucson. The incident occurred just‌ after 9:15 p.m. on August 30, ⁤2025, in the 2700 block of South Wilmot Road,‍ near Golf Links.

Tucson Police⁣ Department ⁢(TPD) and Tucson Fire Department (TFD) ⁤personnel responded to the scene and determined ⁣Richard Daniel ⁢Townsend was pronounced dead at ⁣the scene.

According⁢ to TPD, Townsend was crossing Wilmot Road ⁤when he was struck by a northbound white 2007 BMW 328 traveling ‍in⁤ the⁢ median lane. Investigators confirmed‍ Townsend was​ not in a marked⁣ or ⁣implied crosswalk at the time⁣ of⁤ the collision.

The driver of the BMW stopped immediately ‌and is​ cooperating with the ongoing investigation. TPD stated the ⁣driver ​showed no signs of impairment.The male driver ⁣and female⁢ passenger in the BMW were uninjured.TPD detectives are‍ continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the ⁣crash.⁢ As ⁢of Sunday, no ‌criminal charges ​or civil citations have been issued.
