Trump Calls for “Nonviolence” Following Killing of Charlie Kirk, Expresses concern for teh Country
Washington D.C. – President Donald Trump addressed the nation Thursday, expressing his deep concern following the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. while departing for New York, the President stated he was primarily worried about the state of the country, characterizing those responsible as a “radical left group of lunatics.”
Responding to questions about his own safety,Trump downplayed any personal threat. “Not really,” he said.”I’m really concerned for our country. We have a great country…and we’re going to get that problem solved.”
The President’s comments come amid heightened tensions nationwide following the shooting. When pressed on how he wished to see his supporters react, Trump emphasized the importance of peaceful response.
“He was an advocate of nonviolence.That’s the way I’d like to see people respond,” Trump stated, referencing Kirk’s own publicly stated beliefs.
