Trump Governance Actions Align with project 2025 Blueprint
WASHINGTON – Despite previous criticisms, the Trump Administration’s recent actions increasingly reflect proposals outlined in Project 2025, a conservative plan for a sweeping overhaul of the federal government. An analysis conducted in January revealed that approximately two-thirds of President Trump’s initial executive actions mirrored-either fully or partially-recommendations within the blueprint.
The administration has prioritized reducing the size adn scope of the federal government, initiating cuts that have led to the planned removal of more than 200,000 federal employees through the Department of Government Efficiency. While some of these layoffs are currently facing legal challenges, the administration has together pursued funding reductions through freezes, clawbacks, cuts, and rescissions.
Amid the recent government shutdown, President Trump directed agencies to prepare for “mass firings” rather than furloughs, a departure from standard practice in past shutdowns.Furthermore, the administration has leveraged the shutdown to halt $8 billion in green energy projects in Democratic-led states, withhold $18 billion earmarked for transportation projects in New York City, and pause $2.1 billion in infrastructure projects in Chicago.
