Trump Praises Nicki Minaj as Rapper Stumps for Republicans at Michigan Rally
President Donald Trump and rapper Nicki Minaj campaigned together in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, traveling aboard Air Force One as Republicans push back against projected Democratic gains in the upcoming midterm elections, USA Today reported.
Staff Joke About Minaj as Press Secretary
The rapper’s presence on the presidential aircraft sparked online speculation and lighthearted remarks from White House staff regarding an open communications role. White House communications director Steven Cheung posted on X, “Ladies and gentlemen, I think we may have found the new White House press secretary!” alongside a video of Minaj on Air Force One. The position has been vacant since Zachariah resigned five days into the job.
Midterm Battles in Michigan
Minaj, 43, took the stage at the border city rally to support Republican candidates Mike Rogers, who faces Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in a tight Senate race, and John James, who is running for governor, according to USA Today.
Former President Barack Obama held a rally with El-Sayed on Saturday ahead of the Nov. 3 elections that will decide control of Congress for the remainder of Trump’s presidency. During Sunday’s event, Trump criticized El-Sayed’s Muslim faith, alleging he would invite jihadists into America, remarks El-Sayed has previously condemned as Islamophobic distractions from economic hardships.
Minaj Urges Voters to Reject Gender-Affirming Care
Minaj addressed the crowd in a gold-colored Gucci suit, leading chants of Trump’s name and the names of Republican candidates in Michigan, and urging voters to reject gender-affirming care for transgender children. “We don’t want our children to be bombarded with sex changes, right?” Minaj said, as quoted by USA Today. “We want people to leave the children alone, leave them out of it.” Addressing the audience, she also said of the president, “He represents resilience. So, let’s make some noise for this great man. I love him so much.” She further told attendees, “We need this place to lead in the movement, right?”
Trump Praises Minaj During Rally Appearance
Trump praised Minaj’s appearance and addressed media coverage of previous remarks he made regarding Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s physique. Trump asserted that those earlier comments were made “in fun” and lacked context regarding Husted’s college football background, before turning his attention to the rapper.

“By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful a– before: Nicki Minaj,” Trump said, asking her to stand and wave to the crowd. Later, Trump commended her speech, stating she is “a very special person” who “gets it. She’s smart.” They’re going crazy over her.”
From Past Criticisms to Permanent Loyalty
Treasury Department’s “Trump Accounts” summit and a White House Rose Garden luncheon. Her past support has also included backing his allegations that Christians face persecution in Nigeria and his “gold card” visa offering applicants residency and a path to US citizenship. Concluding her remarks on Sunday, Minaj pledged her ongoing loyalty to the president.
“President Trump, it is an honor to stand with you every single time, and I will continue to support you forever and ever,” Minaj said. “If you run again, I will support you again.”
