trump Calls for Death Penalty in Ukrainian refugee train Stabbing
Charlotte,NC – Former President Donald Trump demanded the death penalty Wednesday for Decarlos Brown Jr., the man accused of fatally stabbing 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zaracka on a commuter train in North Carolina in August. Trump made the demand on his social media platform, Truth Social.
The call for swift justice comes after Brown Jr. was charged Tuesday with federal crimes carrying a potential death penalty. The attack, captured on video by Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS), shows Brown Jr. stabbing Zaracka in the neck from behind without provocation. Zaracka had fled Ukraine following the Russian invasion in 2022, seeking safety in the United States.
“An animal who so brutally murdered a stunning young woman from Ukraine who came to America seeking peace and security should be ‘fast’ judged (no doubt!) and given ONLY the death penalty. There can be no other option!!!” Trump wrote.
According to reports,Brown Jr., 34, is homeless and has a history of mental health issues and prior arrests - 14 detentions for various crimes. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has stated the Justice Department will seek the “maximum sentence” for Brown Jr., facing charges of assault resulting in death.
