Trump Suggests Potential Tomahawk Missile Delivery to Ukraine if War Continues
Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he is contemplating informing Russian President Vladimir Putin that he would authorize the delivery of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv should the war in Ukraine persist. The statement was made to reporters aboard Air Force One as he departed Washington for a trip to the Middle East, according to reports.
While indicating he had not yet reached a decision, Trump confirmed discussions with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the potential provision of these weapons during two phone conversations this weekend. “Ukraine would like to have Tomahawks. We talked about that, and we’ll see,” trump said, as reported by multiple news outlets. He further added, “To be honest, I might have to talk to Russia about the Tomahawks. Do thay want to have Tomahawk missiles headed their way? I don’t think so.”
Trump acknowledged that authorizing the delivery of Tomahawk missiles would represent an escalation of the ongoing conflict. President Zelensky has consistently requested these missiles from the United States.
According to CNN, the Tomahawk missile has a range of approximately 1,500 kilometers (932 miles), potentially enabling Ukraine to strike targets within Moscow.
