Tri-County Sports Roundup: Boys Tennis, Softball, Baseball & Badminton Results – Thursday, May 2nd
The Bethel High boys tennis team secured a 5-2 victory over St. Patrick-St. Vincent on Thursday in Tri-County Athletic League play. Jalen Pham led the Jaguars, winning his No. 1 singles match 6-0, 6-2. Alex Rosales, Roman Amboy, and Elijah Viray also contributed singles wins for Bethel.
“Bethel Pride showed up and showed out today,” said Bethel head coach Mariella-Anne Dela Cruz. Dela Cruz also highlighted Roman Amboy’s contribution, noting he shared his doubles knowledge and coached the No. 1 doubles team.
In softball action, the Benicia High Panthers suffered a 20-6 loss to Vacaville. Ellie Kunstman recorded two hits for Benicia, while Kaity Nichols and Layla Rollans each added one hit. Vacaville’s decisive eight-run sixth inning sealed the victory after leading 12-4.
Ava Flores led Vacaville’s offense with three hits, including a home run, and four RBI. Abagail Garcia also had two hits and four RBI, while Laila Dean and Maddie Rhodus each contributed two hits. Ariana Lopez pitched three innings for Benicia, allowing two runs.
The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High baseball team fell to St. Mary’s 12-5 at home on Thursday. Lucius Lissner and Jaden Dichoco each had two hits for the Bruins. Madden Mendez added a hit and an RBI, and Logan Lissner had a hit and two RBI.
ELITE HIGH’s baseball team lost to Buckingham Charter 13-1 on Thursday, dropping their season record to 0-4.
The Vallejo High badminton team defeated Bethel 11-6 on Thursday. Vy Phan, Melody Tigbao, and Montery Masalaysay secured singles wins for Bethel. Crisanto Mendoza and Fender Ynion, Masalaysay and Ethan Concepcion, and LJ Estrada playing with Ryan Luu all won their respective doubles matches. Bethel’s badminton team now holds a 2-3 record in the Tri-County Athletic League.
