Travel Stars Kevin & Janetta’s Wedding Photos Vanish
Couple recounts losing all images from 1987 ceremony
Beloved travel personalities Kevin and Janetta, known for their appearances on *Travel Guides*, recently shared a startling detail about their 1987 wedding: nearly all photographic evidence of their special day is gone.
A Lost History
Married in a traditional church ceremony followed by a pub reception, the couple now possesses only “one terrible snap” from the event. In a recent exclusive video series, Kevin and Janetta recalled the unbelievable series of events that led to the loss of their wedding mementos.
“We got married in 1987 which is the height of glam rock,” Kevin explained, setting the scene.
Kevin sported a striking silver suit, while Janetta donned a fashion statement described as “shoulder pads on shoulder pads.” The couple admitted they struggled to recall other details from the day.
The pair revealed that their wedding photos were lost, with only a few guest-taken pictures surviving. Janetta shared, “We had our reception at a pub that’s no longer here in Richmond.”
“A couple of months after we had our reception there, it burned down,” she added, laughing at the unfortunate coincidence. “So we can’t show you where it is anymore.”
The Double Loss
The situation worsened, as Kevin elaborated. “We had a whole heap of photos taken and then we moved house a couple of years later and they were all stolen.”
Consequently, they possess “no recorded history” of their wedding day apart from that solitary, “terrible snap” taken by a sibling.
“So we’ve got nothing,” lamented Janetta.
Romance and Airline Beginnings
The video also featured Kevin and Janetta recounting how they first met while both working for an airline. This shared history in the travel industry has clearly been a cornerstone of their relationship.
“We really did not like each other when we first met,”
Janetta remembered.
“We did not at all,”
Kevin interrupted. “And after 38 years it’s gradually getting better.”
The couple’s story highlights the ephemeral nature of memories and the enduring strength of relationships, even without physical keepsakes. The trend of documenting life events has dramatically changed; in 2023, over 1.7 trillion photos were taken globally, a stark contrast to the minimal documentation of Kevin and Janetta‘s big day (Statista, 2024).
