A six-year-old boy was found dead on train tracks in Hamburg‘s Harburg district on Tuesday, prompting a police investigation and disruption to S-Bahn service. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene but were only able to confirm the child’s death.
The circumstances surrounding the fatal injuries remain unclear, and authorities are currently investigating the incident.A Bundespolizei helicopter circled above the area as investigators examined an S-Bahn train at the Harburg station for evidence of an accident. S-Bahn traffic in southern Hamburg was temporarily suspended as an inevitable result of the investigation.
According to a correction issued by Bild, an earlier version of the report incorrectly stated the boy’s age as eight. He was six years old at the time of the tragedy. The investigation is ongoing.
