Toronto‘s 2025 Platform lineup has been unveiled, showcasing a diverse selection of 12 films poised to make waves in the international film circuit. The platform, known for launching critical and commercial successes, will feature projects including “Steve,” starring Cillian Murphy, and “The World of Love.”
The Platform program, a cornerstone of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), champions bold, innovative filmmaking from around the globe. This year’s selection represents 10 countries and includes eight directorial debuts. the films explore a range of themes and genres, offering a glimpse into the future of cinema and providing a launchpad for emerging and established filmmakers alike. The festival runs September 4-14, 2025.
Among the highlighted titles is “Steve,” directed by Gareth Dunnet-Alpoos and featuring Cillian Murphy in the lead role. The film centers on a darkly comedic tale of a man attempting to reconnect with his estranged father. Also featured is “The World of Love,” directed by Katia Adamik,based on a novella by Nobel Prize-winner Olga Tokarczuk,and starring Lesley Manville as Dr. Joan Andrews, who finds herself caught in the upheaval of 1981 Poland during the imposition of martial law.
Other films selected for the 2025 Platform include: “A Distant Star,” ”beautiful Beings,” “Black Tea,” “Daughter of the Sun,” “Ghost Light,” “In the summers,” “Muru,” “The Salt Fields,” and “This Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection.”
The Platform program aims to support filmmakers pushing creative boundaries and to connect them with audiences and industry professionals. TIFF’s selection committee reviewed over 1,300 submissions to arrive at the final 12 films.
