Toronto controlled the first half, forcing NYCFC II to defend and ultimately taking a one-goal lead into the break. The pressure intensified instantly after the restart, with Cimermancic doubling the advantage in the 47th minute, firing into the bottom corner after receiving a pass on the edge of the area.
NYCFC II attempted to respond, with a Chris Tiao delivery on the hour mark, but the cross was confidently claimed by Toronto goalkeeper De Rosario. Coach Pilkington made tactical adjustments, bringing on Julien Lacher for Sunjic in the 65th minute, but Toronto continued to press.
