Germany‘s Schneider Admits World Cup Hopes Remain Distant
Germany’s 2014 World Cup champion Benedikt Schneider conceded the national team is currently far from contention for a major international title, but expressed optimism for future advancement with key players returning from injury.
Schneider, speaking recently, acknowledged a important gap between Germany’s current form and the level required to compete for the World Cup. “It is indeed true that we are at the moment light years from being able to talk about winning the World Cup,” he stated. He clarified that with the next major tournament not imminent, there is time for recovery and rebuilding. “But it will not be played this summer, and the next one.At the moment we are really not in good shape. But let’s wait for the right players to recover in the summer,” Schneider concluded.
The assessment comes as Germany navigates a period of transition and rebuilding following recent performances. The team will be looking to capitalize on player recoveries to improve their standing in international competition.
