NFL icon Tom Brady will return to the football field – albeit in a non-contact format – as a participant in the “fanatics Flag Football Classic” tournament in Riyadh,Saudi Arabia on March 21st. Brady will be joined by current NFL stars Saquon Barkley (Philadelphia Eagles), Christian McCaffrey (San Francisco 49ers), and Maxx Crosby (Las Vegas Raiders), alongside celebrities from the entertainment industry.
“This is an obligation over several years,” brady stated at a press conference in Las Vegas. “We obviously have a good start. A lot of attention and energy is aimed at this first year.”
The tournament, to be held at the Kingdom Arena, will feature three teams of eight players each. Coaching the teams will be Pete Carroll (Raiders),Sean Payton (Denver Broncos),and Kyle Shanahan (49ers). The event will be broadcast on Fox in the united States, with comedian Kevin Hart serving as host. The identities of the celebrity participants without prior football experience have not yet been revealed.
Flag football’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles has spurred increased promotion of the sport by the NFL, with the league aiming to facilitate participation by NFL professionals representing their home countries.
Brady, widely considered the most accomplished NFL player of all time, boasts seven Super Bowl victories – six with the new England patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021. He is currently a television analyst for Fox and a co-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders.
