TNT Sports has expanded its cricket coverage to include the 2023 Asia Cup, securing rights through a sub-licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Networks. the tournament, currently underway in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, features eight teams: India, Pakistan, Sri lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman, and the UAE.
This acquisition bolsters TNT Sports’ growing portfolio of international cricket properties, adding to existing partnerships with New Zealand Cricket, Cricket West Indies, and Cricket Australia. The deal, stemming from Sony’s seven-year agreement with the asian Cricket Council finalized last November, also encompasses the 2027 men’s Asia Cup and future editions of the women’s tournament. While TNT Sports strengthens its position in the international cricket landscape, Sky maintains exclusive UK domestic cricket rights and coverage of ICC-organized tournaments. The Asia Cup’s opening match saw Afghanistan compete against Hong Kong.
