Nagekeo, Flores – Four Indonesian Army (TNI) soldiers have been named as suspects in connection with the death of Prada Lucky Yanto, a member of the 742/Satria Bhakti Battalion. The incident has sparked an investigation into alleged mistreatment within the battalion’s dormitory.
Prada Yanto, 22, passed away on Wednesday, August 6th, after four days of intensive care at the Intensive Care Unit of Aeramo Regional Hospital in Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara province. he was initially stationed in Kuanino, nagekeo.
Following his death, Prada Yanto’s remains were transported to Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, collected by his parents, Sergeant Major Kristian Namo and Sepriana Paulina Mirpey, on Thursday, August 7th.
After a two-day period at a local funeral home, Prada Yanto was laid to rest on Saturday, August 9th, with full military honors.The burial ceremony followed a Christian funeral service led by Reverend Lenny Walunguru of the GMIT Batu Karang Kuanino church.
authorities have not yet released the names of the four suspects, citing ongoing investigation protocols. The case centers around allegations of violence and abuse perpetrated by senior soldiers against Prada Yanto while he resided in the battalion dormitory. The TNI is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the full extent of the events leading to his death.
The incident highlights concerns regarding hazing and mistreatment within the Indonesian military. The 742/Satria Bhakti Battalion is responsible for security operations in the Nagekeo and surrounding areas of Flores Island.
