Title: West Virginia Man Sentenced for Illegal Firearm Possession

Raleigh County⁣ Man⁢ Sentenced to Over Ten Years‌ for‌ Illegal Firearm⁢ Possession

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ​- Quenin Owen Brown,‍ 34,‍ of Shady Spring, Raleigh ⁢County, West ‌Virginia, received an ​eleven-year and four-month federal prison sentence followed‌ by three years of supervised release after ⁣being convicted⁢ of being​ a felon in possession of firearms. ⁤The sentence ⁣was handed down today by United States ⁣District Judge Robert C. Chambers.

The sentencing stems ‍from an incident on December⁢ 28, 2024, in Nitro,‌ where law ‌enforcement ⁤officers, acting on a ​parole violation warrant, apprehended Brown. During ‍the arrest, officers⁢ discovered a loaded HS Produkt (Springfield) Hellcat 9mm pistol concealed in a belly ⁣holster.​ A subsequent⁣ search of Brown’s vehicle ​revealed two additional loaded 9mm⁣ pistols: a Glock model 43 and a Taurus model G3. All three firearms were ⁤later resolute to be stolen.

Federal law prohibits individuals with⁢ prior ‍felony convictions from possessing firearms‌ or ammunition.Brown was aware of this prohibition due to previous convictions ⁤in Kanawha County Circuit Court for unlawful ⁣wounding (febuary 6, 2012) and⁢ fleeing​ with reckless indifference to the safety of​ others, coupled with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine (november 13, 2018).

United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the sentence, praising ‍the collaborative investigative ⁤efforts of the Bureau ⁣of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms⁢ and Explosives (ATF) and the Nitro Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney JC MacCallum prosecuted ⁢the case.

This matter is part of operation Take Back ​America, a national Department of Justice initiative focused on combating​ illegal immigration, ⁢dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities‍ from violent crime.
