Tulsa Doctor Trades Stethoscope for Spotlight in Nashville Holiday Film
NASHVILLE, TN – A Tulsa-area physician is adding actor and songwriter to his resume with a starring role in the new holiday film, “Music City Mistletoe.” James Robert Webb, a doctor specializing in osteoporosis, appears as a fictionalized version of himself in the movie, now available on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
Webb, a 1991 Kellyville high School graduate and former all-state piano player of the year, balances a career in medicine with his passion for music. He co-wrote two original songs featured in “Music City Mistletoe,” where his character is portrayed as a accomplished country music star tasked with saving a publishing company by writing a hit song.
“I get to play the hero country music superstar who comes in and saves the day by cutting this song that the publishing company is depending on,” Webb said.
The film follows a songwriter navigating the challenges of the Nashville music industry. Webb’s long-standing involvement in the Nashville songwriting community, including previously having a publishing company, led to the possibility. Screenwriter Shantell Ogden approached him with the role, and he enthusiastically accepted.
“I was like, of course! How many times do you get to be in a movie in your life unless you’re Brad Pitt?” Webb joked.
Despite his time in Nashville, Webb maintains strong ties to Green Country. He currently practices medicine, helping patients with back pain avoid surgery.
“My day-to-day is helping people with back pain to avoid surgery,” he explained.
Webb emphasizes the importance of pursuing one’s passions. “If there’s something on that’s on your heart that’s been placed on your heart, it’s always worth it to follow that dream.”
