Charlotte Cohn Awarded SDCF Denham Fellowship
NEW YORK CITY: Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) has named Charlotte cohn the 2025 SDCF Denham Fellow for her production The Sound, opening in May 2025 at Center Stage Theater (Jewish Community Center of Greater Rochester, New York). The fellowship, awarded annually to early- and mid-career women directors, includes a $10,000 award. The Sound is a musical inspired by true events, set in 1943 and today, centering on a Holocaust survivor recounting the deportation of Danish Jews.
Malikah Stafford Receives 2025 Clifford Odets Ensemble Play Commission
NEW YORK CITY: Playwright Malikah Stafford has been awarded the 2025 Clifford Odets Ensemble Play Commission for Dead to Us. Sponsored by the lee Strasberg Creative Center, the commission supports the development of original plays for college-age actors. Dead to Us is a darkly comic, supernatural ensemble dramedy about a fractured friend group confronting their complicity after a death. The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute will present Stafford’s play on Dec. 11-13 at the Irma Sandrey Theatre,directed by Stephanie Rolland with NYU Tisch Drama students.
