Škoda Kodiaq, Superb, and Octavia Models Affected by Adaptive Cruise Control Bug
Prague, Czech Republic – Drivers of Škoda Kodiaq, Superb, and Octavia vehicles are reporting issues with their adaptive cruise control systems incorrectly evaluating permitted speeds. One driver reported being advised by authorized service centers not to use cruise control in their vehicle, which cost over one million crowns, and to ideally avoid driving it altogether, pending a major software upgrade from Škoda.
The driver, who contacted multiple service centers, was told a fix is planned but no timeline is available. The operational leasing provider eventually offered a control unit replacement after several weeks.
According to Jiří Linhart, Škoda service manager at Barth auto center, the issue is occurring in a “very small amount” of vehicles. “Yes, we record incorrect evaluation of the permitted speed when using the adaptive cruise control on the Kodiaq, Superb, Octavia models. Though, this is only a very small amount in the order of vehicle units,” Linhart stated.
This is not the first instance of software problems with Škoda vehicles. Previous issues included malfunctioning voice assistant “Laura” in the Octavia, which required multiple updates and,in some cases, led to airbag control unit damage. Problems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality have also been reported across several Škoda models.
Similar infotainment issues have also been experienced by other brands within the Volkswagen Group. Last year, Volvo drivers reported software glitches with the EX30 model, causing the central control screen to become unresponsive, affecting approximately 72,000 vehicles.
