Singer D4vd Named as Person of Interest in Death of Teen Found in Tesla
LOS ANGELES – Singer D4vd, whose real name is David burke, is under investigation in connection with the death of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose body was discovered in his impounded Tesla in September 2024.The Los Angeles Police Department is considering Rivas’s death a homicide.
Rivas was first reported missing in April 2024 from Lake Elsinore, California, approximately 60 miles from Los Angeles. Her remains were found after workers at hollywood Tow reported a strong odor emanating from the vehicle,which had been impounded following a parking violation. Authorities stated Rivas “appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time” before finding.
According to reports, Rivas’s family was aware she knew D4vd and was on her way to see a movie with him shortly before she disappeared. She reportedly contacted her family in May 2024 but had not been heard from since. Images of Rivas and the singer circulated online. investigators were informed by Rivas’s mother that she had a boyfriend named David at the time of her disappearance.
The Tesla had been parked in a hollywood Hills neighborhood for over a month prior to the discovery, prompting a parking ticket issued to D4vd just 11 days before Rivas’s body was found for exceeding the three-day parking limit.
D4vd, a New York-born singer-songwriter known for hits like ”Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” is signed with Darkroom and Interscope Records. He and his manager were residing at a Los Angeles property in the Hollywood Hills at the time of the investigation, and police afterward searched the residence. Following the discovery of Rivas’s body, D4vd cancelled his scheduled U.S. tour. The cause of Rivas’s death remains under investigation.
