Title: Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum Donor Appreciation Dance

La Grange, TX – The Polka Lovers​ Club of Texas Museum‍ (PLCTM) hosted ​a vibrant dance ​event on Saturday, drawing polka enthusiasts from across​ Texas and‍ new Mexico.The program, designed for both seasoned dancers and those curious about the ⁣genre, showcased live polka music and celebrated the museum’s ongoing mission to preserve and⁢ promote polka culture.

Attendees enjoyed performances by an unnamed ‌polka band, described by attendee⁤ Ted LaPesh of Houston ‌as “an excellent polka band.” LaPesh also noted the event featured “plenty ⁣of good food, friendly people, and lots of space for ​dancers,” adding ⁣that an “enthusiastic group kept dancing until the last polka was played.”

The event ⁢included a program update⁣ from PLCTM President Gary Bucek, who distributed the 2025 Program and Annual Report. Raffle​ prizes were awarded throughout​ the afternoon, including a $50 Majek ⁣Winery gift Certificate (Kenneth Kristynik), 10 Texas Women’s League Drive-Thru⁣ Dinners ‌(Randy & Carol Gardner), a Liquor Basket (Susan Weyand), ‌a Margarita ⁢Pitcher &‍ Two Glasses (Barbara Kalina), a jumbo Porta Puzzle & Butternut Squash (Chris Gurecky),‌ and a Seite Basket (Lucille Lancaster).Wilbert ⁢Cernosek ⁤and Jeanette Goodson won the 50/25/25 Cash‍ Raffle.

In a display of community support, attendees contributed non-perishable food items, toiletries, and children’s toys for local holiday programs.

Established ‍in 2006, the PLCTM, located at 275 West Fairgrounds road in La Grange, TX, as part of the Czech​ Village within the Texas⁢ Czech Heritage and Cultural Center ⁣(TCHCC), features ​exhibits on The Hoelscher Haus,⁣ The Hoelscher Family,​ Po.L.K. ​of A., Msgr. Father Hybner, Frank’s Place Bar, historic bands, ⁢donor recognitions, photo displays, videos, musical instruments, and​ an ⁣extensive music​ library dating back to the early 1900s.

Museum Director Jane Fries reflected on the event, stating the music and dance moves “reminded me of the dances I⁤ attended as a child in the ’40s…danced those same moves in many country halls popular at the time.”
