Pension valorisation Delayed too 2030, Demanding Professions May See Earlier Retirement
Prague, Czech republic - meaningful changes to the Czech pension system are on the horizon, with a key adjustment to valorisation-the annual adjustment of pensions to account for inflation-now projected to take effect in 2030, according to statements made by Karel Havlíček. This delay reflects expectations of slower real wage growth in the coming years. Simultaneously, the ANO movement is considering expanding the list of professions eligible for early retirement.
The shift in the valorisation timeline indicates the ANO movement does not currently plan unusual increases beyond existing legislation. While an increase before 2030 isn’t ruled out, it hinges on future economic advancement.Havlíček’s comments suggest a cautious approach, anticipating a more gradual rise in real wages. Another planned change involves maintaining the retirement age at 65, though its full impact will be realized over time as current retirees are already retiring at younger ages.
A more immediate change could come in the form of expanded eligibility for early retirement for those in demanding professions. The ANO movement intends to overhaul the current system, possibly including firefighters, state police, and municipal police officers without financial penalties. Alena Schillerová, a vocal critic of the current rules, highlighted past concerns about the exclusion of employees in the 3rd category from claiming reduced retirement age, calling the previous decision “very non-standard and frustrating.”
Negotiations are ongoing with coalition partners, including the Movement for Self-Government and SPD, to secure the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs for the ANO movement, which would give them significant influence over pension policy. Detailed information regarding the finalized changes is expected in the coming weeks.
