NYC Perfume Tours Tap Into the Science of Scent to Help You Find Your Signature Fragrance
NEW YORK, NY – Forget generic department store spritzes. scent Social Club is offering a unique experience in New York City: personalized perfume tours designed to help individuals discover fragrances that truly reflect their identity.Founded by Asia Grant, who experiences the world through synesthesia – a neurological condition where she hears, sees, and tastes smells – the tours go beyond simply smelling perfumes, delving into the psychology and personal expression behind scent.
GrantS approach is deeply individualized. Before each tour, guests complete a detailed questionnaire exploring their personality, lifestyle, and desired image. “If I smell a perfume, I can hear the noise, music, rhythm of that scent,” Grant told Time Out. “When I see the color blue, I know it smells like this, or I hear this song-and it literally never turns off.” This unique sensory perception informs her ability to translate abstract concepts of self into olfactory profiles.
The process involves a thorough dissection of what qualities like “feminine” or “powerful” mean to each individual, extending to specifics like jewelry preferences and even whether they own a Stanley Cup. Based on these answers,Grant curates a selection of fragrances for guests to sample,ranging from conventional florals to unexpected notes like “soft,musty milk.”
“You want to feel like a woman, but not be overly sexualized-great, how can we find a scent that is simple yet nuanced enough to capture all of that?” Grant explains. “Here’s a fragrance for that version of you and here’s a fragrance for another version. You can be both. Ther’s no greater high in my life than when someone’s like ‘this is exactly me, you found it.'”
