The incident occurred near Times Square after a reported altercation, with Boyd sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police are currently searching for a suspect who fled the scene in a blue BMW. The relationship between Boyd and the individual being sought is presently unknown.
The Jets released a brief statement acknowledging awareness of the situation, stating they would not be offering further comment at this time. Boyd signed with the Jets this spring, having previously played for the Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings, and Arizona Cardinals. He has not appeared in any games this season due to injury.
