Mitchum Deodorant Linked to Burns, Rashes in Thousands of Women
London, UK - A popular Mitchum deodorant is causing severe skin reactions in women across the UK, prompting a public apology from the manufacturer and warnings from dermatologists. Reports began surfacing on tiktok over a month ago, detailing painful rashes, blisters, and swelling in users’ armpits after switching to a recently reformulated product.
The complaints quickly escalated, with numerous women sharing similar experiences.One woman told Metro magazine, “After a few days of use, I noticed that I had a rash and irritation, itchy so itchy that it prevented me from falling asleep.” She reported the issues subsided after discontinuing use. Another woman described developing blisters and swelling so severe it left her with permanent scars. The initial TikTok video,posted by user @ellierebecca_,highlighted the widespread nature of the problem and tagged Mitchum,calling for action.
Mitchum acknowledged a manufacturing change as the source of the issue. “Changing the production process has also changed the way the product responds to the skin. We apologize to all who have suffered pain,” the company stated. Mitchum has assured customers they have reverted to the original production process.
Professor Penny Ward of London University advises anyone experiencing an adverse reaction to promptly discontinue use. According to the Daily Mail,she explained the new formula contains acetylcedene,which has proven irritating in testing,and vanillin,which may also cause discomfort for some individuals.
