Mass Effect TV Series Will Be Canonically Set After the Original Trilogy, Won’t Revisit Shepard‘s Story
A live-action Mass Effect television series is in development, and will expand the universe beyond the events of the original trilogy, according to recent reporting. The series, spearheaded by Fast & Furious 9 scribe Daniel Casey as writer and Star Trek Beyond and mindhunter‘s Doug Jung as showrunner, will forge a new narrative path rather than adapting the existing games.
The project boasts significant creative oversight from within the Mass Effect world and the broader entertainment industry. bioware’s Mass Effect boss Mike Gamble and Marvel Studios veteran Ari Arad are executive producing, alongside Karim Zreik, previously of Marvel TV’s Jessica Jones. this ensures the series remains consistent with established lore while exploring uncharted territory.
Development continues on a new Mass Effect video game, currently untitled but often referred to as Mass Effect 5, which is also set hundreds of years after the original trilogy and features a returning Liara T’Soni. The television series will exist alongside this new game, further expanding the Mass Effect universe for fans.
