Masked Hamas Members Execute Civilians in Gaza, Sparking Outrage Amid Ceasefire
GAZA – Disturbing video footage circulating online appears to show masked hamas members executing a group of individuals in Gaza, prompting condemnation and raising serious questions about security and governance in the territory following a recent ceasefire brokered wiht Israel. The footage, which has been widely shared – including by Israel’s foreign Ministry – depicts what officials describe as extrajudicial killings, torture, and the burning of homes with residents inside.
A statement released by the Doghmush Family alleges a “harrowing internal campaign” targeting its members, detailing “murder, intimidation, torture and burning of homes…without any justification.” The family claims to have lost approximately 600 members during the recent conflict. They assert the attacks began after the family “firmly and fully rejected all attempts by the occupation to win her over or recruit her to work on its behalf.” “What is happening today is a heinous crime committed against a family known for its firmness, determination and rejection of all forms of collaboration and betrayal,” the statement continued.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry used the video as evidence of Hamas’s oppressive rule, stating, “The terrorist group rules through fear - executing civilians, torturing dissidents, shooting anyone who dares to protest. Palestinians seeking food or freedom are met with bullets, not compassion. It is indeed not resistance – it is tyranny.”
The emergence of the video coincides with recent comments by former US president Donald Trump, who suggested he would allow Hamas to police Gaza “for a period of time.” Trump, questioned on the reassertion of Hamas following the ceasefire he helped negotiate, stated, “They want to end the problems. They were open about it and we approved of it for a period of time.”
While israel is advocating for the complete disarmament of Hamas as part of the ceasefire agreement, trump’s 20-point plan, released last week, proposes “amnesty” for Hamas members who “commit to peaceful coexistence and dismantle their weapons.” Trump also acknowledged the scale of the conflict, stating, “They lost probably 60,000 people. That’s a lot of retribution.” He expressed hope for stability as approximately 2 million people return to damaged infrastructure, adding, “We want it to be safe. I think it’s going to be OK… who knows for sure… but I think it’s going to be OK.”
The Doghmush Family has vowed to hold “all those who participated in, contributed to, or remained silent about these crimes fully responsible before God and history.” The events raise critical concerns about the future of security and human rights within Gaza as the ceasefire takes hold.
