NEWARK, Del. – University of Delaware women’s golf standout Mary Grace Dunigan has been honored as the Conference USA (CUSA) Women’s Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday. The recognition marks the first weekly award for a blue Hen since joining CUSA and solidifies Delaware’s early impact within the conference.
Dunigan’s selection is the fourth weekly honor of her career, building on three previous CAA Golfer of the Week awards, including two earned during her sophomore season. The junior’s consistent performance has been a key factor in delaware’s strong start to the season.
The award recognizes Dunigan’s notable sixth-place finish at the recent Nittany Lion Invitational. She delivered two rounds at even par and completed the 54-hole tournament at 1-over par, contributing to Delaware’s second consecutive runner-up team finish.The Blue Hens were the only team to shoot under par (-2) in the final round, narrowly trailing Penn State by a single stroke.Dunigan recorded a total of five birdies throughout the invitational.
Delaware will continue its fall schedule at the Marilynn Smith Invitational, hosted by the University of Kansas, October 6-7 at the Lawrence Country Club in Lawrence, Kansas.
